BYREDO UNNAMED LIMITED REEDITION
Back in 2016, to celebrate the tenth anniversary of BYREDO, Ben Gorham decided to propose a nameless fragrance that left us free to create our own associations, with no semantic boundaries. BYREDO enthusiasts haven’t stopped asking for the return of Unnamed, and here it is available for a short while in very limited quantities.
A NAME OF YOUR OWN
No name. No direction. Just an immaculate label, the promise of a story to write as your own. A blank page upon which your feelings may flow.
Nestled in the white case, a set of letters printed in the unique BYREDO typography provides endless possibilities of the perfect name for this fragrance. Initials, a first name, a dream destination, a lucky number, a
special moment, a time of day or night, an emblem. Countless poetic ways to mark your olfactory presence.
AN AUTHENTIC EMOTION
Deprived of any indications or preconceptions, you are plunged into an unknown world. Each inspiration gives rise to a new sensation, a new image. You must only close your eyes to view the film of your own emotions.
A bursting impression that grips the skin with a cool shiver emanates from the spicy pink pepper and the icy gin accord. The sharpest noses will no doubt identify a scent of undergrowth running through the backbone of
the fragrance. A dark forest where iris roots grow amongst fields of violets and blankets of moss. A forest of towering pines melds woody, balsam scents with a hint of turpentine. Rooted in the formula, balsam fir evokes
wide-open American spaces, evergreens in winter and the sensuality of woods.
And those who fail to identify the ingredients are probably the lucky ones, for they may simply let their own emotions be their guide. Nothing but their olfactory memory and the strange associations it brings to the surface. This is precisely what has driven Byredo—by redolence—since its founding in 2006.
“The names of the BYREDO fragrances often describe the origin of an idea, a thought that leads to a brief presented to the perfumer. With fragrance being completely subjective, these names spark the imagination of the perfumer and finally the customer. They each experience the fragrance even before they smell the ingredients in the bottle. We still find it fascinating that people interpret our fragrances in so many ways. We created an unnamed fragrance that allows our customers to choose a name meaningful to them.”
