BYREDO – Kabuki Perfume – Gypsy Water

BYREDO
Pudderparfyme

The word Kabuki historically refers to traditional Japanese theater.

A rich blend of music, dance, mime, and spectacular staging and costuming, Kabuki has been a major theatrical form in Japan for almost four centuries. There, the kabuki brush, was used to apply the white powder rice uniformly on the entire face.

In modern Japanese, the word is written with three characters: ka, signifying “song”; bu, “dance”; and ki, “skill.”

Inspired by the refinement of this extremely codified form of theatre and the traditional brushes used by Japanese actors to

apply their make-up, BYREDO has created a new perfume gesture

"Gypsy Water is a glamorization of the Romany lifestyle, based on a fascination for the myth. The scent of fresh soil, deep forests and campfires illustrates the dream of a free, colorful lifestyle close to nature."
