Aromatic Woody/ Soft Leather
“Surrendering to the sun. Lush oasis, Djhenné is a warm shadow. A leather sheath with gold wheat and myrrh, protecting from the burning sun’s shroud, the delicate spearmint leaves and the heady whiteness of Seringa Blossom…”
Exploring the olfactory theme of the Oasis, Pierre Guillaume gives us an aromatic, woody orchestration of leather and warm sand, wavering between the floral freshness of an accord of grey lavender, spearmint and seringa and the warmth of a “blond leather” note made up of Blue Cedar, essence of Myrrh, Cocoa Beans and Wheat Absolute. Djhenné – a word combining the name of Djenné, a city in the Mali, and the French for “henna” – crackles with sand particles borne by a powerful woody-ambery note. The coolly bracing lavender and mint accord somehow avoids giving off a typically masculine vibe by resting on warm “parchment” effect of sweet “blond” leather – the blondeness conjuring the warmth and color of sand. With Djhenné, Parfumerie Générale urges us to “surrender to the sun”. With this terse, compelling composition, Pierre Guillaume may just have invented the alternative to tropical accords to conjure the sun in a scent.
